An Adolescent Makes Up His Mind To Make An Appointment With His Family Doctor About His Alcohol Dependency Symptoms

Mitchell is an eighteen-year-old youth who has finally made up his mind that he needs to go and see his family healthcare practitioner about his careless and abusive drinking. At first, Mitchell thought he would be able to simply go on the Internet, look for some basic alcohol info and come to a decision whether or not he was alcohol dependent.

Not unexpectedly, he found more than a few blogs and websites that specified some of the common alcohol consumption problems. That's the positive news. The bad news, regrettably, was that Mitchell displayed several of these problems.

For example, Mitchell has been drinking substantially more than customary and he has started to have more intense arguments with the young girl he has been dating. Additionally, for the very first time in his life he has been having sleeping issues. Likewise, Mitchell often has felt depressed and on an escalating basis he has been manifesting less than normal concentration in the classroom.

So Mitchell finally made up his mind to contact his family healthcare practitioner and ask for an appointment. When Mitchell arrived at the family physician's office, he openly notified the physician about the trepidation he feels about his irresponsible drinking behavior.

The family healthcare practitioner notified Mitchell that it was wise of him to attend to his drinking problems, he gave Mitchell an in depth physical exam, and suggested that he talk to his parents about entering into an out-patient alcohol rehabilitation center that was managed by Doctor Hauser, one of his doctor friends who is an alcohol abuse and substance abuse specialist.

Additionally, when Mitchell said that he has been feeling a sense of despair to a greater degree, the family healthcare practitioner notified Mitchell that alcoholism and depression regularly occur in the same person. Consequently, the family healthcare practitioner also recommended that Mitchell talk to his parents about obtaining therapy to attend to his depression. In fact, Mitchell would be able to go to the local mental health clinic and make an appointment with Doctor Poulos, a renowned psychologist who specializes in treating adolescents.

The healthcare practitioner made it a point to tell Mitchell that he might not inevitably be alcohol dependent, but that he was plainly drinking in a hazardous manner. That is to say, Mitchell was engaging in adolescent alcohol abuse.

The family healthcare practitioner then notified Mitchell that the reason he suggested alcohol rehab in the first place was because he wanted him to face his drinking issues, make sure that he stopped them from intensifying, and start to live in a more healthy manner, even if it meant that he had to completely stop drinking. To put it briefly, by productively treating his alcohol drinking problems, Mitchell would be able to get his hazardous drinking under control and stop the negative sequence of events that could potentially lead to alcoholism.

Mitchell plainly did not look forward to facing his Mother and Father about his hazardous drinking and his depression. And he certainly did not want to face the thought of getting admitted into an alcohol treatment center. And last but not least, he was not elated about going to a counselor about his sense of despair. In the face of these fears, however, Mitchell in reality felt some psychological relief for the first time in many weeks because he ultimately stopped making excuses for himself and at long last determined that he needed to do something productive about his drinking behavior.
