A Young Lady Triumphs Over Her Depression, Gets Alcohol Rehabilitation For Her Irresponsible And Heavy Drinking, And Increases Her Self Worth
Emily was a thirty-six-year-old marketing manager who was tired of feeling depressed everyday and tired of her careless and abusive drinking behavior. Simply put, she hated the hangovers she went through on a regular basis, she was mad at herself for spending her hard-earned money on a worthless habit, she was tired of going through shattered relationship after shattered relationship due to her irresponsible drinking, she was sick of feeling weary every morning, and she missed her old drive for doing the things she enjoyed.
As well as the perceptible alcohol-related health predicaments she now experienced, almost certainly the most regretful part of her drinking regimen was the undependable and deceitful individual she had become. In her heart she realized that she had been lying about her drinking activities with relatives, family, and friends and she also knew she had been dishonest with herself about the "healthy" effects of drinking. What is more, she rationalized wolfing down four or five drinks before going to social events and she also justified needing four or five drinks as soon as she got up so that she could manage the "anxiety" at work. In brief, Emily got to a special time in her life when she finally comprehended that she hit rock bottom and was now prepared to begin the gradual and slow path that leads to recovery.
One of basic ways that Emily operationalized her "plan" was by asking for a transfer at her workplace. When her request was approved by Human Resources and by top management, she moved 200 miles away to a different part of the U.S. If nothing else, this positively made making new friends and buddies and separating herself from her old pals much easier. Then she phoned a healthcare professional in her new residence and made an appointment for a thorough psychological and physical examination.
After meeting with the healthcare practitioner and taking numerous lab tests, it became painfully clear that Emily had crossed the line from alcohol abuse to dependency on alcohol and as a consequence, was in need of alcohol detox and alcohol rehabilitation. At this difficult time, her healthcare practitioner made it a point to discuss the diverse alcoholic symptoms and the usual symptoms of alcoholism. In addition to taking a lot of time focusing on Emily's alcoholism symptoms, her physician also told Emily that her psychological assessment revealed that she was clinically depressed and in need of treatment for her medical issue.
Due to her willingness to follow through with the rehabilitation protocol, after eleven weeks of residential rehab, Emily was ready to initiate rehab on an outpatient basis. At this time in her life, she began working at her new job and over the weeks began revitalizing her body by drinking filtered water, taking vitamins, eating healthy foods, living an alcohol-free lifestyle, and working out.
After nearly thirteen weeks of outpatient treatment during which time she never suffered through a relapse, Emily quit going to alcohol rehabilitation and instead started going five times per week to local AA meetings. Attending these meetings helped Emily follow through with her alcohol-free way of life, they gave her the support she sought after, and they served as a faithful reminder of the adverse results that are linked to excessive and careless drinking. Compared with her life less than a year ago, life was now good and full of potential that she could have never yearned for or brought to fruition while she was involved in excessive and careless drinking behavior.
